And why are you having an abortion?...
One thing has been bugging me, and I hesitate to even say it. From tweeting with Angie on her abortion, I freaking adore her. Seriously, would love to buy her a big bag of cookies and go hang out together all day.
But some of the people defending her, while still on my side too, sticks out. And i don’t mean this as any kind of attack or insult, though I’m afraid that is what some...

Interesting note
At the abortion clinic I was given more information on the risks of childbirth, including what those risks are and what the chances for each risk, than I was given by professionals during any of my pregnancies.

Bleeding
Everyone told me that an abortion would be like an intense period, lots of blood and cramps. So far only the blood part has been right.
Wow. Who knew there could be so much blood for only an estimated 6 weeks? I think I bled less after childbirth!
The cramps have been nonexistent. I had a few light cramps last night, about an hour after inserting the Cytotec (Mistoprostol). They gave me a bottle...

My abortion so far
I got to the clinic about 30 minutes early because I was not quite sure what I would be greeted with. Thankfully there were no protesters, however an empty lot across the street had several signs stuck in the ground, a giant cross, and a couple empty lawn chairs.
The escort was the cutest little old lady. She stamped everyone that came in with a hot pink star on our hands. I wanted to hug her and...

Obviously there are sensitive situations like rape. First of all, don’t get raped. You know, smart girls don’t go down back alleyways dressed like sluts without some sort of weapon. Most girls carry mace, but I prefer a nice revolver. Anyway, if all attempts fail and a female does get raped, then she seriously needs to consider getting this little thing called ‘the morning after’ pill.
Wow. I...

Past Verses Present
I was stupid and got into an argument with a troll on twitter over abortion. My mother did not want to have a child, yet abortion was not an option for her at the time. It was a punishment that she and I both lived with.
I made the statement that while I am happy to be alive today, I do wish she had been given the choice. Yes, even if it meant I would not be alive today. That idea flipped out one...

“The Bible says that marriage is between a man and a woman. In Leviticus it says, ‘If man lies with mankind as he would lie with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination. They shall surely be put to death and their blood shall be upon them.’ The Bible is pretty black and white.”
Of course, she used the time-honored justification of bigots everywhere,...
Abortion: The Choice We Do not Speak of →
We shame. Even those who believe in the right to chose will shame and this is why abortion remains one of those rights we simply do not speak of.
Thank goodness for the women who speak out, without shame, and make this choice open.

Fear
The closer it gets to my abortion, the more I find I have only 1 fear. It’s not the pain, or the bleeding, or the drugs.
I’m terrified of not having the abortion.
My “what if”s are full of horror stories about my childcare pulling out at the last minute. Of an unexpected emergency needing my scraped together funds. The car breaking down and not being able to drive the two...

Typical anti-choicer. Children are just props to be declared punishments or prizes for behavior they deem appropriate or not. “Save the babies” is even more laughable when they could not give a shit less about the actual babies.

No means No. When anti-choice harassers continue to verbally„ and sometimes physically, attack women who are trying to enter a clinic and they do not accept no, they are not showing compassion or caring about the women. They are, in a small way, no better than rapists fighting for control over another person’s body and ignoring all words and physical cues of NO, go away, stop.
There’s never been any indication that Samantha Burton - or anyone else for that...

Pain perception requires consciousrecognition or awareness of a noxious stimulus. Neither withdrawalreflexes nor hormonal stress responses to invasive proceduresprove the existence of fetal pain, because they can be elicitedby nonpainful stimuli and occur without conscious cortical processing.Fetal awareness of noxious stimuli requires functional thalamocorticalconnections. Interesting idea, live tweeting an abortion. I don’t think I could do that. Though I certainly support the woman who did it! The conversations are great too. Well, except for the crap from the anti-choicer people.

Things that make me sick
The crazed “40 Days of Life” event is apparently happening right now. Luckily, they list their locations on their website and my clinic is not a target.
Not that I expect to skip in easily, but I would rather hear a few anti-women crazies than a roaring crowd. I probably would not be able to hold my tongue against them. I don’t want to miss my appointment because I’m too...

Next Thursday
Next Thursday I go to the local clinic, a good 2 hours away, and have an abortion.
Yes, I am aware of what I am doing, no you cannot stop me or “save” me, and I do not care what your imaginary friend in the sky will think of me. For what it’s worth the Tooth Fairy thinks I’m totally awesome and the Easter Bunny has already promised to hook me up in the after life.
